For those of you in gainful employment:

What does a normal shift at work consist of?

What is a skill you often employ at work that required some training?

A normal shift for me consists of wrking between the hours of 9-5:30 on weekdays or 10-4 on saturdays (like today), in this shift I spend my time on the phone supporting people who shouldnt have computers, and fixing or carrying out requested maintaince on machines that are brought to us. I also advise and hopefuly educate the clueless interested in purchessing new machines.

My most used skill is probably diagnosis, or problem analisis.
I guess you could say they were trained, but more through a process of experience and play than any actual training (the training I did was trivial)

The only thing that could be considered common sense is probably "look busy when the boss is about" if I have nothing better to do, or when dealing with customers.

last time I was at work, I got my ass kicked in Mario cart DS.

1)For me 9-4 is my usual shift.
2)We have a specialsied computer program we use.
3)Being polite.
4)A baby was crying in the kitchen. We are a family friendly office.

Ooh, okay. I work 8:30-5pm, hour for lunch. Skill that required some training: giving people money!! \o/ Yeah, so we'll call that using the banking software. Skill that is common sense: customer service. I do a lot of dealing with solicitors and brokers. And next time we are face to face get me to tell you about some of the craaaaazy solicitors. I think I'm not allowed to post things like that on the interwebs. :)

What does a normal shift at work consist of? Answering the phone for 7.5 hours, dealing with anything from term deposits to misplaced eftpos card, being yelled/sworn atoccasionally.

What is a skill you often employ at work that required some training?
Stopping a credit card/opening an account. I had about 4 weeks of training, so most of the things I do were trained.

What is a skill you often employ at work that falls into the realm of common sense?
Telling people to go to their employer to ask why they weren't paid as much this week.

What's something that happened the last time you were at work?
Leon made a proddy-thing out of a polystyrene cup and a large paper clip. But work wise, a few term deposits were invested for 8.9% for a year, I facilitated them.
