And now for something Completely Different
SSar's Beast

Today was very good! GOOD day!

It consisted of

*Some sleeping in
*Three hours of paid work
*A useful hour in a special collections room of the library
*Emailing my supervisor and other potentially useful experts
*Doing laundry
*Two and a half hours of writing footnotes and learning to correctly mark them with XML tags
*Doing something small wrong in XML then figuring out what I'd done wrong on my own using deductive reasoning
*A nice dinner (even though I burned the potatoes the first time, and had to throw them out)
*Battlestar Galactica with weaselfilms
*My flatmate anord's drumming gig
*Lots of dancing, to my flatmate's drumming class and to her teacher's band, which was great
*A truly delicious slice of chocolate raspberry cake.

I was productive both in employment and education, spent time with Joel, and had fun in a novel way. So huzzah!!

The gig, at the Ruby Lounge, was a lot of fun. Everyone in Steph's class was kind of eye candy, and it was also fun watching their expressions as they all concentrated on the same sounds, putting head and body into it as well as hands. And Steph's teacher's band was really good, including a great saxophonist. They were "Afro Beats"-style music, and the most dance-to-able music I've ever heard, which is why I spent approximately an hour dancing to them. Now, I can't dance, and the only dance training I've ever had was a few weeks of bellydancing, but the atmosphere didn't seem very judgmental and I was enjoying just moving to the beat, for once. I kind of wish I'd worn something other than a shapeless jersey and culottes and sneakers! But at least they were comfortable. cabaiste84 and Matt were lovely to see together, too.

The gig was brilliant fun, eh?! I was so proud of Steph- she and her class were awesome. :D

Steph and I were actually saying how awesome we thought you were for getting up and dancing! Especially since you were by yourself for most of the time- I personally don't much dig dancing in bars if I don't have someone/a group to dance with, so I really admire you for doing that. :) And I think you're a great dancer!

Thanks for your compliments re Matt and I. We've very rarely been to bars together (apart from a few gigs at San Fran), so it was definitely a novelty for us! I was really thrilled Matt enjoyed himself, as he used to be so shy when it comes to these things. Hopefully we can all do something like this again soon. :D

Thanks! Heh, I've never danced in a bar before except for two really awkward occasions. And I totally agree about not wanting to dance by yourself - except sometimes it can be just as inhibiting to think how you might appear in front of your friends, as in front of strangers.

I'm so glad Matt enjoyed himself! I was pretty impressed to see you two dancing together, since not many of the guys I know enjoy dancing much. I guess having you to dance with would have helped his shyness!
