Two pieces sharing an affinity... in Morbane's journal where she writes her tale....
SSar's Beast

Hey, you.

You don't have an intelligent attention-seeking cat called Rikki Tikki Tavi who walks across your keyboard, highlighting what you're in the middle of writing, and sits on the mouse, causing your browser to go back one page, making you think you've lost everything you've typed.

To add insult to injury, she steps on CAPS LOCK as she goes.

To prove I'm insane, as I stare at my cat and the screen, I realise that the Steely Dan song playing through my headphones is "Rikki Don't Lose That Number"...

Anyway...

I Am Cherry Alive

"I am cherry alive," the little girl sang,
"Each morning I am something new:
I am apple, I am plum, I am just as excited
As the boys who made the Hallowe'en bang:
I am tree, I am cat, I am blossom too:
When I like, if I like, I can be someone new,
Someone very old, a witch in a zoo:
I can be someone else whenever I think who,
And I want to be everything sometimes too:
And the peach has a pit and I know that too,
And I put it in along with everything
To make the grown-ups laugh whenever I sing:
And I sing: It is true; It is untrue;
I know, I know, the true is untrue,
The peach has a pit,
The pit has a peach,
And both may be wrong
When I sing my song,
But I don't tell the grown-ups; because it is sad,
And I want them to laugh just like I do
Before they grew up
And forgot what they knew
And they are sure
I will forget it someday too.
They are wrong. They are wrong.
When I sang my song, I knew, I knew!
I am red, I am gold,
I am green, I am blue,
I will always be me,
I will always be new!"

never be the same

don't stand around like friends at a funeral
eyes to the ground
it could've been you
why do you weep
for the passing of ages
you slip with the back of your hand
you're taking it out on the one you love
I couldn't believe it

but we might still survive
and rise up through the maze
if you could change your life
and never be the same

how long must I wait
for you to release me
I pay for each mistake
while you suffer in silence

'cause we might still survive
and rise up through the maze
if you could change your life
and never be the same

don't stand around
like friends at a funeral
eyes to the ground
don't suffer in silence

'cause we might still survive
and rise up through the maze
if you could change your live
and never be the same
everytime I hear you
never be the same
and everytime I mess up
never be the same

-Neil Finn, Crowded House

Discuss? I'm fascinated by the link I see: one is about change in a positive light, while t'other's about change in a negative light.

*grins wryly*

}Saw a kingfisher today.
}I found the perfect materials for a Morbane-cloak. A dull, thick, partly-waterproof brown fabric for the outside, and a very deep brown velveteen fabric for the lining. Now I just have to win Mum over as far as the pattern is concerned, because she thinks that a traditional sleeveless hooded cloak would be too impractical, and wouldn't allow me to wear a backpack properly, whereas I really don't care - I just want a proper cloak.

*Frowns at the title. Knows you did that on purpose, but still frowns.
